We often hear kitchens referred to as “construction” or “building” sites but this – certainly in my case, anyway – is often more a reflection of their state of cleanliness and how many children have invaded the home that day rather than a result of the materials used in the kitchen’s design.
Yet, here we have a new kitchen from Italian manufacturer TM Italia which the company likens to a “construction site”. It’s called Structura and was named to reflect the distinguishing materials used in its creation.
Designed by Gianluca Tondi, the Structura kitchen was launched during Milan Design Week. Within this very pared-back, minimalist design the kitchen features an organic quality with a muted colour scheme that just begs for a splash of colour via accessories or personal items.
Here is what the company says about its new design: “The island is characterized by the 45 degree cut of the doors and vertical planes in their joints and the worktop now coming in a totally new and innovative look”.
The new and innovative look to which they refer is the thin Cardoso stone benchtop which floats above the bulk of the island, together with the tempered glass snack top. The snack top is set on a rotating base which can be positioned where needed to meet the various requirements of the family.
At the rear sits a large cabinet unit fitted with sliding doors and constructed from an innovative material called Eco-malta with a concrete finish. Concealed inside this large cabinet is a refrigerator and oven, together with plenty of space for other kitchen items as well as food storage.
