While there was plenty of focus on texture and depth at this year’s Interzum fair, we also saw lots of attention paid to lights and lighting with this clever idea receiving plenty of ‘wow’s from visitors (including us).
Ettlin lux® Smart Glas introduces a new level of creativity when using light in interior spaces. The glass is back-lit with LED lights to form fascinating, seemingly three-dimensional luminous structures. A light-technical fabric is embedded into the laminated glass which has the same application as conventional laminated glass and is available in custom-made measurements.
Pre-dyed Smart Glas varieties combine with different fabrics to create a range of effects from clear to diffuse and coloured which allows the designer to personalise the product to suit the space and the effect they are trying to create.
The company claims virtually no boundaries concerning the creative potential of this new product and site the example of the lux ® Smart Glas in the kitchen where the applications can include splashbacks or island bar fronts. “The smart material is capable of creating spectacular highlights of colour and light in living quarters,” the company says in its press release.
There is also plenty of application for the commercial sector and I could easily see this product in bars, restaurants, hotels, offices and retail environments.
