John Keating Junior discusses Qasair products with part of the visiting team

“When you’re in sales, the thing about extraction doesn’t revolve around noise or air flow” says “Big John” – but he is, of course, in sales.

“Little John” completely disagrees, and when asked about the sales volume that some members of staff had sort of, kind of, but not really confirmed, his answer was a continual –  “shit loads”.  Sounds like a great team to me, but an admission that they are doing plenty.

TKBB was given some extraordinary access to the Qasair facilities today along with a variety of resellers, installers (so good to see them being rewarded), and independent designers who know and trust the Qasair brand. And when you can bend metal like these guys do, with such precision, following on from such accuracy in laser technology and a willingness to make the perfect Australian product, it’s no wonder that that iconic movie from 2002 brings back such fond memories.

Qasair stands for “Quiet as Air”, something the owners – John Keating and John Keating (for those that don’t know, I kid you not, they are both called “John Keating”,) are extremely proud of. And like all good products, they are proud of their achievements, the high and intensive level of individual involvement in each and every product is crucial to the final result, Qasair isn’t standing around waiting for one of the bigger players to “take them out”.

A couple of new innovations in their range are their changes to noise insulation and seamless undercarriage manufacturing. Previously filtrated noise absorption was a lengthy and expensive manufacturing process for many reasons. The use of a new exclusive polyester sound proofing lined externally with a 550 degree rated ceramic cloth makes the process quicker and easier, but delivers better results. Additionally new styled control panel fascias allow even better access to the controls but and immense reduction in heat, steam and grease levels around the electronic controls.

imageQasair is proud of their 40 years in the marketplace and exports the product to Singapore and New Zealand on a regular basis, but one off orders head to many other countries on a regular basis. However Qasair is developing a revolutionary new plasma rangehood. This rangehood will use plasma technology which converts odour molecules into odourless oxygen and hydrogen. This technology has been used in the space craft industry and the industrial food industry to deodorise air. As these rangehoods do not require ducting to be effective, they will revolutionise apartment living.

Apologies for the lack of images – Melbourne has a funny way of crippling ones computer But my thanks to Allan Aitken Photography for these shots, Allan is available at any industry function for nothing more than a decent chardonnay!!
