I Salone for those who want to be!

A new side to the massive show in Milan which starts in 15 days time and is open to the public every day with free admission for the first time in Pavilions 13 and 15, is the “I Salone Satellite”

The showcase is completely dedicated to designers under 35, the world’s foremost springboard for the designers of the future, and moves to a new, more functional location, easily accessible from Porta Sud (South Gate) and the Service Center. Its proximity toEuroCucina, in Pavilions 9 and 11, is intended to create a synergy with FTK (Technology For the Kitchen), where creativity and technology of the future become the engines of innovation.

After the great success of last year, the Artisanal Workshop initiative is back: masters of textiles, ceramics, leather and 3-D printingwill demonstrate what lies behind an object, bringing visitors into direct contact those who design and build them while showing how to integrate the artisanal tradition with industrial production.

650 young designers, nearly half of whom are returning for the second or third time, will participate in the SaloneSatellite after having passed a rigorous selection process by the illustrious Selection Committee that includes key figures such as GiovanniAnzani, Varenna (EuroCucina); Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis, President, Museo del Design, Triennale di Milano; Ana Dominguez, Journalist, Abc – Diseño Interior (Spain); Francesco Faccin, Designer (SaloneSatellite 2007 and 2010); Daniela Fantini, FratelliFantini (International Bathroom Exhibition); Lia Ferrari, Journalist, Io Donna (Italia); Beppe Finessi, Design Critic; Gilles Massé, Director of Home Collections, La Rinascente; Roberto Palomba, Architect; Marcello Pepori, Lema (Salone Internazionale del Mobile); Valentina Raggi, Journalist, Grazia Casa (Italia).image

Participants will present their prototypes and take part in the 5th edition of the SaloneSatellite Award with projects thematically related to EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition, so as to encourage contact with the companies exhibiting at theSalone del Mobile. The 3 best projects in the represented categories will receive cash awards from an international jury composed of eminent figures in the fields of design and manufacturing. Winners will also be provided with consulting and press office support to ensure visibility of their designs.image

Back again this year is the collaboration with la Rinascente, which will be selling a selection of products by the young designers of the SaloneSatellite. At the Design Supermarket, Piazza Duomo, Milan, from September to December 2014.
