The 2015 winners of the Cristalplant Design Contest have been announced at a special ceremony held in conjunction with Milan Design Week.

Leonardo Mercurio

The “Young Designer” award went to Leonardo Mercurio for his basin design “Fe-Man”. Leonardo attended the Art Institute “Pino Pascali” in Bari and later moved to Milan. He graduated with honours in “Corporate Artistic Design” at the Academy of Fine ARts in Brera in 2011 and began his professional experience at Studio ITO Design.

The interpretation of the washbasin’s shape and form is dependant on the point of observation and the way it is positioned – so will be different for each person. As the winner of the Young Designer category, the Fe-Man basin will be included in the 2016 catalogue of Antoniolupi, the business partner of the contest.

The “Senior Designer” award went to Cosetta Mugianu for her clever bathtub/shower design – “Lunetta”. Cosetta was originally a portrait painter and self-taught decorator as a young girl then studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milao after graduating from high school. Her experience in Milan cultivated her passion for design as well as architecture.

Her Lunetta bathtub boasts the dual roles of bathtub and shower with its size and sculptural shape designed specifically to allow for a free installation in environments of any size. Its curves and profile reflect a comfortable, enveloping seat while the ovoidal geometry keeps the exterior pure and shell-like.

As the winner of the Senior Designer category, the Lunetta bathtub will be included in the 2016 catalogue of Antoniolupi, the business partner of the contest.
