New collections from Rapsel

At the recent Salone del Mobile, Rapsel released two new bathroom collections – Fidia, designed by Matteo Nunziati and Collapse, designed by B. Kocak, D. Costa and G. Nosralla.

The sink and the bathtub designed for Rapsel are inspired by the friezes of the Parthenon of Athens that were realised in the fifth century by the Greek sculptor Phidias. The idea of the dynamic movement of a swaying fabric has been translated into a contemporary aesthetic language to create this new collection for Rapsel.

The result is a dynamic form that, in the observer’s eye, appears always different compared with the observation point. The sink and the bathtub are made from a high-performance innovative solid surface material, perfect for the bathroom ambiance. To obtain a technically flawless result, a complex process has been used which utilises a 5-axis electronic pantograph. The result is an innovative sculptural form which is classic but, at the same time, contemporary.

This collection – developed in collaboration with SPD (Polytechnical School of Design of Milan) has a neat minimalist presence. Basic volumes are juxtaposed to suggest a movement, a shift to an unexpected position, and create a strong architectural statement.

The bathtub, the washbasin and the furniture are in Velvet® and Noce Canaletto, the WC and the bidet are in ceramic, covered by a Velvet® structure. The aim of this project is to have a very classic and sophisticated line.
