During Milan Design Week 2017 De Castelli will present Tracing Identity – a project that involves seven female designers, who all differ in age, origins and approach, but who have created a collection of metal furniture characterized by a strong emotional allure.

The designers involved are: Alessandra Baldereschi, Nathalie Dewez, Constance Guisset, Francesca Lanzavecchia, Donata Paruccini, Elena Salmistraro, Nika Zupanc.

De Castelli invited this group of female designers to show off their strong interpretation and intimate vision for creating a special collection of interior elements. The goal was to dispel the myth that metal is cold, uncommunicative and strictly linked to male nature. Each piece has a precise use and a strong volumetric presence.
- Polifemo: design Elena Salmistraro, 2017. Polifemo is an innovative cabinet that is composed of a wood structure and a copper covering embellished by ornamental engravings.
- Volte: design Costance Guisset, 2017. Volte plays with metal with the soft lines of the shelves are supported by two smooth lateral wings characterised by peculiar délabré copper shades.
Screens, cabinets, tables and bookcases clearly show the handcrafting skills of De Castelli, becoming also the opportunity for trying new finishes and types of manufacturing. The seven designers worked enthusiastically at De Castelli production site, together with skilled workers and innovative technologies.
- Vomere: design Donata Paruccini, 2017. A table entirely made with metal that expresses lightness and freedom from strict formal schemes.
- Scribble: design Francesca Lanzavecchia, 2017. All that glitters ain’t gold… it could be copper, brass, iron.
De Castelli is well-known all over the world for melting design and metal manufacturing, handcrafting skills and advanced technologies. In addition to furniture production, the company has expanded its projects by looking at important collaborations with well-known architects, becoming a partner for many design companies thanks to its on-going research of new solutions and uses for metals.
