QIDA Professional Development ConferenceThis is QIDA’s first ever full day Conference with Professional Development to support the industry. Program – Session 1: Consumer Law
Presented by the Office of Fair Trading

Protect you, your business and your clients by understanding consumer law for both services and products. This session will give you an awareness and understanding of your rights and how to comply with your obligations under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) . It will help you identify which parts of the ACL are relevant to your business and how you can get more information.

Session 2: QIDA Contract for Decorators, Designers and Property Stylists
Presented by Paul O’Shea from O’Shea Lawyers

The QIDA contract has been developed especially for QIDA members to use as the basis of their relationships with clients and trades. This session will launch the QIDA contract and how to use it to suit your individual circumstances. After the QIDA Conference and this session it will be available for QIDA members to use free of charge.

Session 3: Project Management/Administration
Presented by the QBCC

Understand how you can effectively work with clients and trades within the law. This session will detail what types of work you need a licence for and how you can work without a licence to protect yourself and your clients.

Session 4: Creating Truly Unique Interiors: Working with Artists and Artisans
Presented by Selina Zwolsman of Very Zed Art & Design

As an artist, qualified interior designer and writer, Selina has been surrounded by creative people all her life. She is passionate about creating unique designs and will explore and share the ‘lost trades’ that are resurfacing and how decorators and designers can design and create spaces with Australian artisans to deliver distinctive and individual designs.

Session 5: Expert Panel – Succeed in business

QIDA has put together a panel of inspiring business women who are all running successful businesses and will share their stories and tips on what you can do to excel in the industry.
