Falper presented its Small Living Kitchens™ earlier this month at Salone del Mobile.Milano as a concept for compact kitchens in prestigious dwellings.
The company is mostly known for its bathroom furniture but has extended its know-how and sophisticated design credentials to a new room in the house, the kitchen.
Small Living Kitchens™ is a concept that maintains the high standards and convivial layouts of large kitchens in previously unimagined compact spaces as small as just 2.5 square metres. Small Living Kitchens™ is a kitchen system with a rational, simple design, made up of a few essential elements – Islands, Storage Units and Tall Units – that can be combined in infinite compositions.
Islands, Storage Units and Tall Units, designed by Andrea Federici, are arranged according to a principle of rational design that combines finished elements, positioning them in the space in a simple way, like living room furnishings, without the need for complex bespoke solutions.
Falper Small Living Kitchens™ utilise a simple, combinable modular system. The Islands come in three models, available in three different sizes. The Storage Unit is a single element, finished on all sides, with an interior that can be configured in a variety of ways. The Tall Units are modular elements that can be combined with one another to create a wall system, and can be configured in various ways internally.
Islands come in three models, available in three different sizes.
Island Model 1 features a 4mm thick stainless steel top and sides, and is available in 150cm and 180cm widths. Island Model 2 features 4mm thick stainless steel top and sides, and is aavailable in 120cm, 150cm and 180cm widths. Island Model 3 is made entirely of marble, lightened with internal honeycomb inserts, available in the marbles from the catalogue in widths of 120cm, 150cm and 180cm.
The fronts are available in wood finishes, in glossy and matt lacquers and in stainless steel finishes, from the catalogue, and can be fitted with hob and sink, hob only or sink only. The hob is available in gas or induction versions. The drawers, in solid walnut with Blum Legrabox guides with integrated stabilisers and soft close, are completely removable.
The Storage Unit is a single element, finished on all sides and inside, internally configurable with eleven functional models. The doors, with 45° edges, are suitable for refrigerators with load-bearing hinges and have a vertical pocket handle. Inside the open compartments and pantry compartments, bilateral internal LED lighting also acts as a courtesy light. The shelves and glass doors are made with matt black aluminium frames and dark grey glass. The Storage Units are compatible with standard size built-in appliances.
The Tall Units are modular elements, which can be combined together to create a complete wall system, and are internally configurable in multiple functional models. They consist of 60/64cm elements for the refrigerator and pantry, 120cm central elements with retractable doors and customisable Above-Tall units.
The Tall Units are in plywood or MDF with continuous wood grain pattern veneers, 19mm thick. Retractable latest-generation doors feature the new Blum Pocket system with vertical pocket or Push Pull handles. The single doors for pull-out refrigerators have 45° edges.
Doors and sides are available in the wood finishes and in the glossy and matt lacquers in the catalogue. Interiors in matt black or, on request, in canaletto walnut. Inside the open compartments and pantry compartments, bilateral internal LED lighting also acts as a courtesy light.
