KBDi 2022 Design Awards – National Winners

The KBDi 2022 Design awards were held last month in a series of gala and presentation nights. In a special series of posts, here are all the winners in the National categories.

2022 Certified Designer of the Year

Winner: Helen Baumann CKD Au | Helen Baumann Design (NSW)

This exquisite design and its associated documentation deemed it a hands-down winner for the KBDi Certified category judging panel. The judges loved every element of this design. From the intelligent space planning to the elegant material and fitting selections, the panel were most impressed with the overall submission. They commended the designer on the faultless documentation and declared the entrant an exemplary example of a KBDi Certified Designer.

2022 Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year

Winner: Stefan Vignogna CKD Au | Stefan Vignogna Joinery & Interiors Pty Ltd

KBDi-2022-awardsThis 1930s-character villa received a stunning transformation at the hands of a skilled designer. The reinvented space is both elegant and modern, meeting the client’s brief of a minimalistic style while still retaining respect for the heritage architecture. The panel commended Stefan on his innovative design solution, striking concept presentation and exceptionally high standard of documentation. They were delighted to award him the national title of KBDi Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year.

2022 Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year

High Commendation: Naomi McLean | MJ Harris Group (Vic)

KBDi-2022-awardsIn a very tight competition, the judges deemed this entry worthy of a High Commendation. This stunning kitchen was beautifully detailed and designed. From the finishes to the fittings, the space was expertly planned and classically styled. The panel were most impressed with the meticulous documentation and congratulated the designer on a stand-out entry.

2022 Australian Bathroom Designer of the Year

Winner: Eliesha Paiano | Paiano Design (NSW)

KBDi-2022-awardsThere is much more to this bathroom than can be captured in a photograph. The passive-designed tree house required thoughtful planning and considered material selections to meet the client’s sustainability goals. The designer created a space with an earthy aesthetic, innovative material usage and a highly functional layout, ticking all the boxes for a sustainable and liveable project. The bathroom was comprehensively documented with a detailed specification and professional plan set, and the judges were delighted to award the designer a national title.

2022 Laundry Design

Winner: Naomi McLean | MJ Harris Group (Vic)

KBDi-2022-awardsThe designer has created a light, bright and magnificent space to carry out the often-mundane tasks of the laundry. The considered floor plan has a beautiful connection to the outdoors and a lovely link to the adjoining living areas. The project is well detailed and specified to a tee – a pleasing result overall.

2022 Traditional or Themed Design

Winner: Sam Robinson CKD Au, CBD Au | Sam Robinson Interior Design (Vic) + Garrett Hebden | Better Bathrooms & Kitchens (Vic)

KBDi-2022-awardsThis spectacular kitchen has all the bells and whistles of a contemporary space with the opulent style and detailing of a traditional design. With meticulous planning, comprehensive specifications and an exceptional plan set, the design team has executed a five-star project well and truly worthy of an award.

2022 Design Space

Winner: Sari Munro | Insidesign Pty Ltd (NSW)

KBDi-2022-awardsAn early 1900s grand Victorian Manor House proved the perfect playground for this designer. Her brief was to transform an existing beige and boring space into an elegant adults’ retreat. With creative space planning, detailed joinery design and exquisite decoration, this designer nailed it.

2022 First Time Entrant

Winner: Naomi McLean | MG Harris Group (Vic)

KBDi-2022-awardsThe judges were blown away by the portfolio of projects entered by this designer. Each of her entries was exceptionally well executed – from the concept design to the plans and specifications, the designer has demonstrated a high aptitude for planning and presentation. We look forward to seeing how far the designer will go in this industry and congratulate her on her efforts.
